In 2026, The Historic BK House & Gardens will turn 200 years old. As we celebrate the anniversary of the buildings’ construction, we look to all of the former inhabitants, caretakers, and laborers of this historic treasure for inspiration and continued growth. Their stories encompass 200 years of French Quarter history and their legacy has guided a new phase in BK House’s interpretive planning and programmatic offerings.
Embracing a more community-minded approach to sharing history, BK House has initiated a series of programs that reflects our local community. We’re proud to welcome in neighbors and visitors alike for our myriad cultural and education events, expanding our reach and placing us more firmly into the educational landscape of the city. Having spent the past decade raising funds for the stabilization and restoration of the buildings, the Board of Trustees is overjoyed to focus a portion of our fundraising efforts on our staff development as well as programming, which has evolved and grown in concert with the buildings’ restoration.
We are proud to be working with the Greater New Orleans Foundation on the Freeman Challenge, which provides a 50% match to every dollar earned for the Endowment in 2024, up to $150,000. We hope to carry this effort forward into 2026, raising an additional $200,000 in 2025 and 2026.
Your donation of $200 (or any amount of your choosing) will support a continued investment into our staff, programming, and continued growth. Here’s to the next 200 years!
